And what happens when police DO get charged?.....check these stats out from the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT)

Usually a very light punishment, probably with pay.

Never forget Umar Zameer. He was a victim of egregious police behaviour about which the police subsequently lied in court. An officer died in the tragic events, which seemed to excuse all subsequent police duplicity. An investigation by the supposedly independent (and unbiased) OPP is still outstanding and the Toronto Police Services Board is quite comfortable with the interminable delay. It is all shameful.

State-sanctioned street gang, cops. They know they can act with impunity based on the lack of oversight & accountability alone, but they're also rewarded for any wrongdoing with a multi-year paid vacation while they await trial (IF they're tried). It's almost like it's incentivized. Total farce of an institution.

I'm not saying anything you didn't say here... it just boils my blood and I'm relieved to learn with recent events that there are many who feel the same way.

Eagerly hoping for Mamdani to give us a model to aspire to in NYC...
